Janusz Korczak
Among humanistic culture of the civilized world Janusz Korczak stands amongst a series of moral authorities such as Socrates, Pestalozzi, Gandhi and Schweitzer. He was named "modern Socrates" by the poet Vladimir Slobodník in his "Lamentation in the honor of Janusz Korczak."
Korczak entered the history of education as the founder of modern educational concepts and organizer of model care institutions. In the age of thirty-three years he became the director of the Orphanage. To the fore in his pedagogical work, personal life and work he pushed moral values ??- love, respect, generosity, truth and goodness.
Korczak became famous, among others, as the creator and pioneer of many ideas of teaching, including the so-called “pedagogical love”. His work put him among the most important creators of the education thought of early twentieth century, especially the so-called New Education.
Labor played a great role in his educational thought. Moreover, implicitly he devoted himself to work. Since 1926 he created the weekly "The Little Review"(pol. Maly Przeglad), written by children for children, issued in the form of an addition to "Our Review"(pol. Nasz Przeglad). In 1934 he joined the Polish Radio, where under the pseudonym "old doctor" he lectured the plays for children. Through 40 years he published more than 900 texts, which were published in more than 100 magazines. For his literary activity in 1937. He was awarded the Golden Academic Laurel of the Polish Academy of Literature.
